Fresh off a career season that saw him put up personal bests in receptions (86), targets (121) and receiving yards (729), it looks like the injury bug has come back to haunt Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta. The team announced on Friday that the vetran tight end has suffered yet another hip injury after attempting to make a catch in practice at OTAs this week.
The unfortunately reality of this situation is that Pitta's career could now very well be over depending on the results of further tests.
Remember, the former fourth-round pick played in a total of seven games from 2013-15 after suffering multiple hip injuries. While he did return to full health last season, doctors had advised him to retire from the game. Depending on the severity of this latest injury, that could become reality.
From a fantasy perspective, the Ravens don't have a whole heck of a lot behind Pitta on the depth chart. Former second-round pick Maxx Williams played in only four games last season to due to injury and has recorded a grand total of 32 receptions in two NFL seasons. Meanwhile, 2016 free agent signing Ben Watson missed all of last season after tearing his Achilles in the preseason.
