Less than a week after signing former Pro Bowl running back Latavius Murray, the Minnesota Vikings announced that the newcomer has undergone ankle surgery to remove bone chips in his ankle.
It's a somewhat minor surgery, one that experts call a "clean-up."
With that said, Murray will likely miss OTAs and should be for training camp.
Now that Minnesota has signed Murray, it sure looks like the Adrian Peterson will not return to the team. With Matt Asiata also a free agent, look for the Vikings to draft another running back in April.
It will be interesting to see how the depth chart plays out here, but Murray should be a near three-down back for the Vikings. That has him as a potential RB1 option after not finishing any lower than 13th at that position in each of his final two seasons with the Oakland Raiders.
