Third-year Oakland Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper is being relied on as a bottom-end WR1 option in preseason drafts. He's currently the 10th receiver off the board in terms of ADP.
Though, fantasy football owners the world over have been taken aback by Cooper missing the past week-plus of practices due to an unknown leg injury. In fact, Cooper himself missed Oakland's preseason opener against the Arizona Cardinals last week.
The good news? Cooper returned to practice on Tuesday and immediately caught a long touchdown pass from Pro Bowl quarterback Derek Carr.
Assuming his injuries are behind him, Cooper represents a tremendous amount of upside as a potential late second-round pick in standard 12-team drafts as the preseason continues. Last year saw the former first-round pick record 83 receptions for 1,153 yards and five touchdowns. It was good enough for him to finish as the 12th-best fantasy receiver in the game.
This is most definitely something to keep an eye on. Should Cooper prove to be healthy before late-summer drafts are conducted, he would then be one of the highest-upside WR1 options available.
