Whether you are a Tim Tebow fan or not, people can’t seem to get enough Tebow news. People all over the world are constantly on the look out for the latest scoop on the New York Jets' backup quarterback. Where will Tebow be playing in the upcoming football season? Will he even be playing in the NFL? Everyone is eager to have these questions answered.
The Jets have been tight lipped about Tebow and have not released much information about their plans for Tebow’s future with the team. The Jets are in no rush to make a move but absolutely nobody expects him to be with the team once the 2013 season comes around. The Jets are hoping for a late-round pick in exchange for Tebow, but it appears not many teams are interested in trading for the enigmatic quarterback. The lack of interest puts Tebow in a difficult position.
Releasing Tebow near the start of the season would make it extremely difficult for him to sign on with another team. The Jets are close to the point of no return with Tebow. There is a small chance New York keeps him on the roster for another season or at least until an injury forces another team to trade for Tebow mid-season.
The 2013 season is looking grim for Tebow. All signs point to another unpleasant year for the University of Florida standout. While many people are still holding on to hope of him returning to a starting job in the NFL, the more time passes the more unlikely this becomes. What’s more new rumors have emerged that Tebow’s time in the NFL is over and the CFL may be his best option. The straight-laced quarterback may have his determination pushed to the limit this season.
Is there any NFL team out there interested in Tebow? Numerous reports have surfaced that the potential trade partners for the New York Jets are steadily vanishing but the Seattle Seahawks, who needed a backup quarterback after the Matt Flynn trade, were reportedly interested in the polarizing quarterback. The reports have since been rendered moot since the Seahawks signed Brady Quinn. The Seahawks were the most likely trade partner for the Jets after letting Flynn depart to the Oakland Raiders.
Tebow has a similar style of play to the Seahawks starting quarterback Russell Wilson. The Seahawks are not looking to overpay for a backup quarterback like they did with Flynn. Tebow would have been a perfect fit since he would likely be available for a relatively reasonable asking price. Tebow’s rushing talent was the catalyst many attributed to the Denver Broncos playoff success two seasons ago. Seattle was not impressed enough with Tebow for them to sign him, instead they opted for Quinn.
While the future of Tebow’s NFL career is uncertain, what is certain is Tebow’s resolve. Even if you are not a fan of Tebow the football player, you can’t help but be a fan of Tebow the person. His “nice guy” persona transcends sports and he makes even the casual observer root for his success. Tebow never got much of a chance to shine in New York but don’t count him out if he gets another opportunity in the NFL.
