Jarryd Hayne Finishes Excellent Preseason Performance with Another Great Outing

San Francisco 49ers running back Jarryd Hayne was one of the most-electric performers around the NFL during the preseason. The rookie from Australia, who just started playing American football five months ago, has played so well this summer that he's a near lock to make the team's 53-man roster.

And two plays on Thursday night are prime examples of why Hayne is not only slated to earn a roster spot, but likely ready to make an immediate contribution.

Here, you see Hayne first show elite-level vision and tremendous cut-back ability to find the hole. He then shows that vision again while utilizing plus-level physicality against a Chargers defender that had no chance.

It's this type of play that Hayne, a former rugby star, has displayed throughout the entire preseason.

Not to be outdone, two plays later, Hayne showed off the physicality I mentioned above:

This is something you can't teach. Either a running back has the speed/physicality combination, or he doesn't. In this, Hayne has proven time and again that he's near elite-level status in both respects.

Overall, the rookie running back put up 175 yards on 25 attempts for a 7.0 yards per carry average in four preseason games. He also added three receptions for 35 yards while tallying 196 special teams yards. Those numbers are utterly ridiculous.

While head coach Jim Tomsula has not indicated one way or another whether Hayne will make the 53-man roster, there's little doubt that he will. San Francisco can't afford to risk another team picking him up off waivers in an attempt to hide him on the practice squad. Besides, the team would likely be best suited actually giving Hayne regular season reps this year.
