Sometimes a player sitting out with an injury can be the best thing for all parties involved. Joique Bell has officially been ruled out for the Detroit Lions game against the Seattle Seahawks with an ankle injury.
Bell has split touches with rookie Ameer Abdullah this season, one of the most baffling decisions in football this year. Through three games, Bell has looked lethargic with legs stuck in quicksand, unable to generate any explosiveness or power behind his runs.
He was unable to practice all week due to the ankle injury, another in a long line of injuries for the veteran running back. Bell had surgery on his Achilles and knee this offseason, with his recovery eating into the preseason and likely leading to his ineffectiveness.
With Bell ruled out, Abdullah should see an expanded role . While his overall production hasn't been outstanding this season, the Lions' offensive line has been largely ineffective. If Detroit gives Abdullah a significant role on Monday, he could be a solid RB2, even against the Seahawks, thanks to his ability to contribute running the ball, out of the backfield and returning kicks.
