Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle touched the ball just two times in his team's loss to the New York Giants on Sunday. He exited in the first half and was seen trying to work through something on the sideline. Randle never returned to the game.
Now comes this report from NFL Media's Rand Getlin:
Getlin went on to indicate that the Cowboys expect Randle to miss "some time." Whatever that means after suffering the oblique injury is anyone's guess.
With Randle sidelined against the New York Giants on Sunday, Darren McFadden took the bulk of the carries — looking pretty darn good in the process. McFadden gained 152 yards on 29 attempts and had another long gain nullified by a phantom holding call on the Cowboys.
This time last year, it would have been hard to imagine the Cowboys relying on a Matt Cassel - Darren McFadden backfield, but that seems to be where they are headed into a big Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Some had indicated Christine Michael would see an uptick in attempts this past weekend, but he only put up five rushes for 18 yards in limited duty.
McFadden could be an intriguing waive-wire pick up. Though, that would have to be conducted with the knowledge that he's a must bench against Seattle. After that, it's going to be all about McFadden's overall performance and the health of Randle.
