Justin Hunter "Trending Up" in Tennessee Titans Camp

Buyer beware and all that fun stuff. Tennessee Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter, always an enigmatic figure in the fantasy football community, seems to be receiving some lofty praise from the team during camp.

I think it's possible this one scribe just had flashbacks of taking Hunter in the seventh round of one of my drafts last season. Fluff or not, Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt may have sent some fantasy football owners into full-blown overreaction mode.

Let's clear all this up for you.

After putting up nearly 20 yards per reception during his rookie campaign in 2013, Hunter didn't necessarily see his production increase a great deal last year. While he still averaged nearly 18 yards per catch, the third-year receiver caught just 42 percent of the passes thrown in his direction. Overall, Hunter boasts a 42 percent catch rate and an 11 percent drop rate in two NFL seasons. These aren't indicators of a wide receiver that's prepared to make a fantasy impact moving forward.

We aren't even at the "buyer beware" stage here. Whisenhunt summed it up for every fantasy football owner out there. Avoid Hunter at all cost until he actually shows he has the ability to perform as a NFL caliber receiver on the field during games.

The former second-round pick's current ADP is at 309, which makes him an undraftable commodity at this point. We can thank the fake football gods for that one.
