Keenan Allen Out Indefinitely with Kidney Injury

San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen departed Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens with an apparent back injury. It wasn't until things calmed down on Monday that we acquired a better understanding of the specific injury.

Chargers head coach Mike McCoy indicated in his early-week presser that Allen suffered a kidney injury in the game. He did not offer a timetable for return.

In a sign that the injury may be more serious than originally anticipated, other members of the Chargers wide receiver group are planning to visit Allen in the hospital

While the larger concern here has to be over Allen's overall health, his loss for an undetermined amount of time is a big blow to a 2-6 Chargers team that needs all hands on deck.

Allen, 23, has put up 67 receptions for 725 yards and four touchdowns in eight games this season. Those numbers are good enough to have the third-year receiver as the seventh-best fantasy player at his position this year.

With Allen sidelined, Malcom Floyd will see more reps at wide receiver, as will free-agent signing Stevie Johnson. The expectation here also has to be that Ladarius Green will be involved in more two tight end sets with Antonio Gates
