Charlie Whitehurst Could be a Cheap QB Buy
At just 10 percent of your cap, Whitehurst could potentially give you some solid under-the-radar play today. He's going up against a Washington Redskins defense that ranks 32nd in the NFL against fantasy quarterbacks and is allowing an average of nearly 24 points to this position per game. With Justin Hunter stepping up and Kendall Wright continuing to do his thing, Whitehurst could have himself a nice little game. Considering Jake Locker was limited all week and remains questionable, you're going to want to have to check out the actives before locking Whitehurst in. If for some reason Locker is able to go, he's also a solid under-the-radar buy at $5,700.
Avoid Drew Brees
While Jimmy Graham may be available for this game (again, check actives in this morning), there is no reason to believe that Brees will live up to his price as the second-highest valued quarterback. He's going up against a Detroit Lions team that ranks second in the NFL against fantasy quarterbacks. And he's doing so on the road, where he hasn't necessarily had a lot of success recently. Why not go with the likes of Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick in better matchups at cheaper prices?
Justin Forsett Remains a Great Value
As the eighth-ranked fantasy running back this season, Forsett has been among the most surprising players in fake football. This promises to continue against a 32nd-ranked Atlanta Falcons defense that is yielding an average of 190.8 total yards and 1.83 touchdowns to opposing running backs this season. As the 11th-most expensive running back, Forsett represents top-five value here. He's a must buy.
Despite Recent Drama, Marshawn Lynch is a Decent Buy
Lynch may have questioned the Seahawks decision to trade Percy Harvin and was close to not boarding the team's bus to St. Louis, but he's more than capable of putting up some stellar numbers today. After all, you have to believe that Seattle will go to the ground and pound, which is something it has gotten away from during the team's mediocre 3-2 start to the season. If so, Lynch will be the guy that's going to compile 20-plus touches. And in reality, you don't need me to tell you what that means.
Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree Should be a go
Despite boasting the league's second-ranked defense, there is no reason to believe that the San Francisco 49ers will be able to go into Denver and shut down Peyton Manning and Co. They're going to be without All-Pro linebackers Aldon Smith, Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman in this one. In total, over half of San Francisco's starting defense will be inactive for this epic matchup.
This means that Colin Kaepernick will have to put the ball up a lot in order for the 49ers to stand a chance in this game. Forturnately for those of you potentially relying on Kaepernick or his receivers, the signal caller has been stellar on the road as of late. Over the course of his last 10 regular season road starts, Kaepernick is averaging over 260 total yards of offense with 21 touchdowns compared to one interception. This is reason enough to believe that Anquan Boldin and/or Michael Crabtree will have good game. In fact, it could make sense to use one as your WR2 and the other as your FLEX. After all, they represent just 18.8 percent of your cap combined. That's some tremendous value right there.
