The Buffalo Bills are going to be without star running back LeSean McCoy and young receiver Sammy Watkins for the team's game against the New York Giants on Sunday.
Bills head coach Rex Ryan indicated on Wednesday that things don't look good for McCoy, who was a shell of his former self last week against the Miami Dolphins. McCoy, who was acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade back in March, has been dealing with a hamstring injury since the first game of the preseason. Considering it hasn't gotten better, the Bills are wise to give him a rest.
As it relates to Watkins, he sat out the entire second half of last week's game with a calf strain. And while Ryan did indicate the team wasn't sure about his status on Wednesday, things changed on a dime on Thursday:
Buffalo, 2-1 on the season, has put up a stellar offensive performance through the first three games. Considering it has done so without McCoy or Watkins providing much, that's a great sign for the team.
With McCoy unable to go, impressive rookie Karlos Williams will get the start. With three touchdowns on the season, Williams is the 10th-best fantasy running back thus far. With McCoy sitting, Williams becomes a solid play.
