Marcus Mariota to Undergo MRI on Knee

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota received a low hit to the knee in the first half of Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins. And while the rookie quarterback did remain in the game, he was pulled late in the fourth quarter with the Titans getting blown out.

Per Pro Football Talk, the Titans are hoping that it's an MCL injury, and not an issue with his ACL. As we saw with Tyrod Taylor of the Buffalo Bills, an MCL sprain tends to force a player from action for a minimum of a week. If it is the ACL, that's a completely different problem and could have wide-ranging long-term implications.

Depending on the results of the MRI, Zach Mettenberger could be under center for the Titans against the Atlanta Falcons next week. After winning the season opener, Tennessee has lost its past four games by a combined 45 points. It stands to reason that Mariota gives the team the best chance to break this lengthy losing streak.
