Now firmly behind Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns on the team's depth chart, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marqise Lee is slated to miss another two weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in camp earlier this month.
Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley, changing the time frame for a potential Lee return after indicating initially the second-year receiver would miss only two weeks, is informing us the USC product will be out through the end of the month:
Lee may have missed only three games during his rookie campaign, but lingering injuries impacted his ability to make much of his opportunities as a rookie. The former second-round pick tallied just 37 receptions for 422 yards and one touchdown in eight starts.
Now that both Robinson and Hurns have shined in camp this month, it's highly unlikely Lee will find himself in the starting lineup anytime soon. Heck, rookie receiver Rashad Greene has looked good in camp. Unless Lee is 100 percent ready to go when Week 1 comes calling, he might find himself relegated to No. 4 wide receiver duties.
Even if the young receiver does return by the start of the regular year, Jacksonville's offensive scheme suggests he might not get enough snaps to be considered a rosterable receiver. With Marcedes Lewis and Julius Thomas on the roster, there's a chance the Jaguars go with more 12 personnel (one running back, two tight ends, two receivers), leaving Lee to rot on the bench.
