Chicago Bears wide receiver Kevin White isn't the only rookie at his position slated to continue missing training camp and preseason action.
Miami Dolphins first-round pick DeVante Parker is reportedly out three-to-four more weeks following off-season foot surgery. The three-week window would still enable Parker to get some action in prior to Week 1. Though, if he were to be out a longer period of time, that would push Parker's return into the regular season.
The Dolphins don't necessarily seem too worried about Parker missing action in August:
“He’ll have to shake some rust off. But he’s here to play. We are doing everything we can to make sure he’s ready to go when we’re given the word it’s time," Ken O’Keefe said on Tuesday, via the Miami Herald. "He’s doing a great job for a young guy staying engaged from a mental standpoint. Physically he’s doing what’s being asked of him according to the rules. I’m not concerned about it. I think he’ll be in good shape.”
The issue with this is that Parker could very well fall down the depth chart as he sits out. Second-year player Jarvis Landry likely has one of the starting jobs already nailed down. Meanwhile, veteran additions Kenny Stills and Greg Jennings will be competing for first-team reps with the rookie from Louisville still sidelined. That's a whole heck of a lot of competition that Parker is missing.
