Mike Evans' Ceiling for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2014

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers brought in Josh McCown to compete with Mike Glennon for the starting quarterback position in free agency. McCown and Glennon are both game-managers, but they will have the ability to manage a great offense with the wide receiver combination of Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans. The funny thing about the Bucs drafting Evans is that I compared him to Jackson in terms of their size, catch-radius, and their hands. Height is becoming a hot trend in the NFL for receivers and that is an unteachable tool that Evans already has. Let's take a look at why Evans' ceiling in 2014.

Many Buc fans will feel iffy on this pick, as the Texas A&M product is already having problems with hamstring injuries, but Evans has the skillset of a No.1 receiver. In this offense, Evans will play second fiddle to Jackson, but their production could be very similar.

If it was my guess, McCown will be the starter for Tampa Bay in 2014. While he could just be a stopgap option, there is a lot to like out of the former Chicago Bear. When Jay Cutler went down with an injury, McCown took this offense by storm and ultimately put this team into playoff consideration. In Chicago's offense, McCown had two towering receivers in Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. He also had a versatile player out of the backfield in Matt Forte. The Bucs mirrored Chicago's offense last year through this year's draft by drafting Evans and Charles Sims. Jackson will play the role of Marshall, Evans will play the role of Jeffery, and Sims will play the role of Forte.

I have had Evans as my No. 1 receiver in this draft class for quite some time now. It is concerning that he only played on the right side in college, but the main reason because of that was that Johnny Manziel always scrambled to that direction. Evans' combination of size and catch-radius will allow him to be productive in any NFL offense. It should only be a matter of time until we see the former Texas A&M Aggie in the Pro Bowl.
