Most Disappointing Fantasy Football Players Through Two Weeks

Animal abuse is reprehensible, but I may take a combat-boot to a certain hamster. All kidding aside starts like the one Doug Martin is having for the Buccaneers can drive fantasy owners mad, like say if a Percy Harvin touchdown that should not have counted was never reviewed.

But I digress yet again, check out the 10-most disappointing starts by fantasy players in the 2014 season.

10. Seattle Seahawks Defense

After posting 10 points in Week 1 Seattle floundered against the Chargers scoring -1. With the Broncos on the slate for Week 3, this team’s 17th ranking is a tough blow for owners who leapt at the unit as early as the 10th round.

9. Rob Gronkowski, Tight End, New England Patriots

Despite a touchdown in Week 1, Gronk’s status as the 13th wide receiver is not getting it down for owners. While the struggles may lie at quarterback, Gronkowski managed just three points in Week 2 after 10 in the season’s first contest.

8. DeSean Jackson, Wide Receiver, Washington Redskins

Jackson has not yet found success in his new home posting just seven points in two contests. Jackson did leave his team’s victory over the Jaguars early, but so did quarterback Robert Griffin III so Jackson’s value now depends on Kirk Cousins.

7. Torrey Smith, Wide Receiver, Baltimore Ravens

Smith and quarterback Joe Flacco have not yet hit their stride in 2014, as Smith is currently ranked as the 70th receiver in scoring after posting just five and then one point in the team’s first two contests. The bright side here is that games with Cincinnati’s and Pittsburgh’s passing defenses are out of the way, but this is a situation to monitor in Baltimore.

6. Vincent Jackson, Wide Receiver, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Expectations for Jackson were tempered with Josh McCown taking over the helm, yet few expected Jackson to be the 54th ranked wide out after the first two games. Jackson has just eight points on the season, and must figure out his rapport with his quarterback soon for the sake of his fantasy owners at least.

5. Tom Brady, Quarterback, New England Patriots

With a pedestrian 18 points in two games, rumors are circulating about Brady’s downfall being imminent. While I hold out hope for the time being, things must turn around soon for the veteran quarterback or the end of an era could be upon us sooner rather than later.

4. Larry Fitzgerald, Wide Receiver, Arizona Cardinals

No longer an elite wide out, Fitzgerald is underperforming even the lowest of expectations. With just seven points in two games, it is clear that Michael Floyd is the man to own in the desert.

3. Reggie Bush, Running Back, Detroit Lions

Similar to the most recent two veterans mentioned on this list, 2014 could be the end of the line for Bush as a relevant fantasy contributor. Bush has just seven points through two games and is listed as the 53rd scoring back. At 29 Bush has fans and owners alike in fervor worrying about his status as an RB-2 or FLEX consideration.

2. Doug Martin, Running Back, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Which is worse, Martin’s job security, inability with the rock, or health concerns? With only nine carries on the year, owners are incredibly fearful that their second or third round pick could be worthless.

1. Eddie Lacy, Running Back, Green Bay Packers

A top five pick in nearly every format, Lacy has been an utter disappointment scoring just nine points in two games. That is not first-round material. Lacy will have to improve on his ranking as the 46th rusher to regain favor in the eyes of his fantasy owners.
