1. Todd Gurley, Los Angeles Rams
This has more to do with the unattainable situation Gurley has found himself in this season. Forced to go with Case Keenum under center to start the season, the Rams picked up 2016 where they finished off last season, as the worst-passing offense in the NFL. Los Angeles then turned to rookie Jared Goff before ultimately firing head coach Jeff Fisher. That's not necessarily a recipe for success.
Then again, we're not taking Gurley off the hook here. He still found a way to absolutely dominate on the ground as a rookie despite the league's 32nd-ranked passing attack. All said, the former top-10 pick put up nearly 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns in 10 games.
Now 14 games into his sophomore season, and Gurley has been among the most-disappointing players in the NFL. He's averaging just 3.2 yards per rush and has put up 778 yards on the ground. This has him as the 20th-ranked fantasy running back. Not too great for someone who had an ADP in the top three during the preseason.
Matt Jones, Washington Redskins
Jones was being relied on as a RB1 option by most fantasy owners at the start of the season. With an ADP at the end of the second round, the expectation was that he'd be able to pick up up the slack in Washington's offense after the team moved on from Alfred Morris.
Now, 14 weeks into the season, and Jones has been benched in favor of rookie Rob Kelley. Putting the ball on the ground eight times in 243 career attempts will do that to a running back. In fact, Jones has not seen a carry since all the way back in Week 7. Ouch!
Jeremy Langford, Chicago Bears
We wanted to avoid focusing on injured players here. But the fact of the matter is that Langford lost his starting job to Jordan Howard, primarily due to Howard's dominance in the Bears' offensive backfield. In fact, Langford has attempted 14 rushes in the seven games since returning from injury.
No one was really relying on the second-year back as a top-end option. Though, his ADP did suggest RB2 production. Needless to say, that hasn't even come close to happening here.
Chris Ivory, Jacksonville Jaguars
When the Jags signed Ivory this past March, the expectation was that he'd be able to repeat the performance we saw from him with the New York Jets the previous season. In fact, Ivory finished last season as the 11th-best fantasy running back after putting up a career-best performance.
Due to a multitude of factors, including injuries and Jacksonville's overall struggles on offense, Ivory has not lived up to expectations in his first season in Florida. He's put up just 394 rushin yards and is averaging less than four rushing yards per game.
