Most Disappointing Fantasy Running Backs Through Week 10

Todd Gurley, Los Angeles Rams

After jumping on to the scene as a rookie last season with 1,294 total yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games, Gurley has fallen off the map big time as a sophomore. Due to a combination of his own struggles and the inability of the Rams' offense to do anything through the air, the second-year back is averaging just 3.1 yards per rush on the season.

Through nine games, Gurley is on pace to put up less than 1,000 yards rushing. That's a stunning figure considering what he did last season. And in reality, it has those who drafted him in the first round preseason singing the blues. Gurley enters Week 11 as the 20th-best fantasy running back. Ouch.

Matt Jones, Washington Redskins

Most expected Jones to be a RB1 option this season after the Redskins moved on from Alfred Morris. That simply hasn't been the case. In fact, the second-year running back was a healthy scratch for Washington last week. Now, after losing out to rookie Rob Kelly for the starting job altogether, it's at the point where we might want to consider dropping Jones from our fantasy teams completely.

The second-year back is averaging 4.6 yards per carry but he's already lost three fumbles on the season. That's not a sign of the youngster getting consistent touches for a contending team down the stretch.

Carlos Hyde, San Francisco 49ers

It's important to note that Hyde has missed two games to injuries this season. We've avoided putting players on these lists that have missed multiple games. While they've been disappointing from a fantasy aspect, that's pretty much out of their hands.

Though, when on the field, Hyde has struggled doing a whole heck of a lot in a run-friendly Chip Kelly scheme. Sure he has six touchdowns on the season. Hyde is also averaging an incredibly low 3.6 yards per rush on a team that's averaging 4.1 yards per rush as a whole. He's also putting up an average of just 63 rushing yards per game. Those are not the elite-level fantasy numbers we expected from a healthy Hyde at the start of the season.
