1. Gary Barnidge, Cleveland Browns
After last season's stunning performance, Barnidge has struggled making much of an impact through the first three weeks of the 2016 campaign. He's been targeted just 13 times in three games as the Browns have been forced to go with a different starting quarterback each week. And while the veteran has caught nine of those passes, he's failed to score a touchdown.
If you drafted Barnidge in year-long or dyno leagues, his ADP suggests you are going to have to ride him through the season. If you're looking at production in DFS contests, he's a must avoid. That's until the tight end actually finds a solid relationship with rookie quarterback Cody Kessler. None of this is Barnidge's fault, though he is definitely a product of the issues in Cleveland. And in reality, it's being felt big time in the fantasy world.
2. Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys
Another veteran tight end that's failed to much much of an impact with a rookie under center. Though, there's definitely a much better chance Witten can potentially find a relationship with Dak Prescott before too long. At the very least, the upside appears to be better than Barnidge in Cleveland.
Through three weeks, it's obviously not there yet. Witten caught 9-of-14 targets for 66 yards in the season-opener. In the two games since, he's recorded he's recorded five receptions on just six targets. That's the issue here, Prescott simply hasn't found a comfort zone with Witten.
3. Jordan Reed, Washington Redskins
There's no real reason to expect this decline in fantasy production to continue moving forward. In reality, it seems to be more of an outlier than anything else. Reed has caught 16-of-25 targets through three games. He's also one of the top receiving options in a pass-heavy offense. This bodes well for his ceiling moving forward this season.
Unfortunately, a lack of touchdowns (zero) has played a major role in Reed's lack of fantasy success. Reed is the ninth-best fantasy tight end heading into Week 4. While that should change, it's been an issue thus far on the young year.
