Most Glaring Kansas City Chiefs Needs Entering NFL Draft Season

The Kansas City Chiefs were one of the best teams last season and they relied a lot on their defense that was tops in the league for a large part of the season.  Guys like Eric Berry, Tamba Hali, Derrick Johnson, and Brandon Flowers should up and played extremely well.  The defense was no doubt the strength of the team and something they relied on heavily to get the job done.

The Chiefs can really use some more power on offense as they struggled at times to move the ball.  Jamaal Charles lead the team in receiving and rushing which when you think about it is pretty crazy.  He was one of the league's best running options once again totalling over 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.  The crazy part is that he also lead the Chiefs in receiving yards, receptions, and touchdowns! He was able to total 70 catches 693 yards and seven touchdowns!

The next best receiver was Dwayne Bowe who is supposed to be the teams number one target.  He was able to haul in 57 catches, 673 yards, and five touchdowns.  If this is all your number one receiver can muster and your running back is your leading receiver, than I think it’s blatantly obvious what the glaring need is.

The Chiefs have one of the best defensive units in the league, even the year before when they didn’t play well as a team overall the defense sent a couple guys to the pro bowl.  They can add some depth here and there but all in all their pretty set.  The issue is offense and the weapons around Alex Smith the quarterback.

Lucky for them there are several options at receiver and tight end in this years draft.  Guys like Kelvin Benjamin, Odell Beckham Jr, Marqise Lee, and Jordan Matthews will be available for the Chiefs in the upcoming draft.  The receiver position is ridiculously deep so the team will be able to get a starting caliber receiver in the third maybe fourth rounds.  It will be key for the team to strengthen the receiving corps so Charles can focus more on being a running back.  If they can add two to three weapons that can make and impact they will instantly become one of the most dangerous teams in the league.
