Most Glaring San Francisco 49ers Needs Entering NFL Draft Season

The San Francisco 49ers came up one play short of participating in the Super Bowl for the second straight year this past season, and has had an interesting offseason thus far to say the least.

While they have had all the recent news surrounding players Colin Kapernick, and Aldon Smith for off the field issues, the 49ers also did make some roster moves so far that may cause for some areas to be addressed.

Wide receiver

One area of concern for the 49ers that they have been trying to address for the last couple of seasons seems to be the wide receiver position, especially when you play in the same division as the Seattle Seahawks who’s secondary is self proclaimed the legion of boom which is the home to arguably the best cornerback in football Richard Sherman and the best safety in football Earl Thomas.

With the 49ers recently letting go of Mario Manningham and not knowing what Jon Baldwin capable of you would think they will try to add a wide receiver early in the draft to matchup better against the Seahawks in the passing game. Look for players such as Odell Beckham JR, Kelvin Benjamin, and Marqise Lee too be late first-round options for the 49ers to select.

Cornerback

We do know one thing is for sure and that’s the 49ers have one of the best defensive units in the NFL, however they recently just lost corner back Tarell Brown to the Oakland Raiders in free agency.

I would think that with the current cornerbacks on their roster, Tramaine Brock, Chris Culliver and Eric Wright, that the 49ers would look to add another young corner back for that secondary for the near future.  Jason Verrett and Kyle Fuller would be good fits for this defense.

Even though the 49ers have had some offseason drama and a couple of players leave this past offseason there is no reason for 49er fans to panic, this team will still be in the hunt come January.
