New Orleans Saints Restructure the Contract of Drew Brees

Still sidelined with a shoulder injury, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees restructured his contract to save the team $2.6 million in cap space this season.

By virtue of this move, Brees will now have the highest cap hit in the NFL for the 2016 season at $30 million. That's a less-than-ideal scenario for a quarterback dealing with a Rotator Cuff injury and obviously regressing on the field.

It remains to be seen what led the Saints to make this decision in-season, but the expectation has to be that they will be adding another player of substance to the roster in the coming weeks.

New Orleans takes on the Dallas Cowboys this upcoming Sunday. And while we have no idea whether Brees will play, the team must avoid a 0-4 start to salvage the season.
