Tuesday was the official first day of free agency and it sure had its wild moments. There were some lulls here and there but the second you decided to step away from your computer something big happened. Let’s get right to it:
T.J. Ward (S) signed with the Broncos.
Mike Mitchell (S) left the Panthers to go to the Steelers.
Vontae Davis (CB) signed with the Colts.
Jared Veldheer (OT) signed with Arizona.
Ahmad Bradshaw (RB) re-signed with the Colts.
Darren McFadden (RB) stayed with the Raiders.
Dexter McCluster (OW) signed with Tennessee.
Branden Albert (OT) signed with Miami.
Linval Joseph (DT) signed with the Vikings.
Rashad Jennings (RB) left Oakland for the Giants.
Malcolm Jenkins (S) left New Orleans for Philadelphia.
Andre Roberts (WR) left Arizona for Washington.
Arthur Jones (DE) signed with the Colts.
Eugene Monroe (OT) stayed with Baltimore.
Rodger Saffold (OT) signed with the Raiders.
Antoine Bethea (S) signed with the 49ers.
Zane Beadles (OG) signed with Jacksonville.
Lamarr Houston (DE) signed with Chicago.
Karlos Dansby (ILB) left for Cleveland.
Michael Johnson (DE) signed with Tampa Bay.
Adam Vinatieri re-signed with the Colts.
Peyton Hillis (RB) re-signed with the Giants.
Phil Dawson (K) re-signs with San Francisco.
Jairus Byrd (S) signed with the Saints.
Toby Gerhart (RB) signed with the Jaguars.
Alterraun Verner (CB) signed with Tampa Bay.
Eric Wright (CB) re-signed with the 49ers.
Ryan Mundy (S) signed with the Bears.
Aqib Talib (CB) signed with the Broncos.
Not everything that happened was a signing of a free agent. There were also some trades:
Blaine Gabbert was traded to the 49ers for a 6th-round pick.
Jonathan Martin was also traded to the 49ers for an undisclosed draft pick.
Just because there were a lot of signings on the first day doesn’t mean the rumor mill stopped:
The Denver Broncos look to be the favorites to land former Cowboy DeMarcus Ware (OLB).
No one seems to be willing to trade for Darrelle Revis (CB) so he will eventually be cut and have his pick of teams. The question is if he is still chasing the money or is he chasing the rings. That will decide where he lands.
The New York Jets are very interested in Maurice Jones-Drew (RB).
Jacoby Jones (WR) is visiting the Giants.
Jason Hatcher (DT) is visiting with the Seahawks.
Miles Austin (WR) and Julius Peppers (DE) were cut by the Cowboys and Bears, respectively.
The Falcons released Thomas DeCoud.
Golden Tate (WR) will be visiting with the Lions.
