To win in the NFL it is all about defense and pressuring the quarterback. It starts nowhere else then the defensive front and the defensive ends. We have seen a lot of changes in the NFL from traditional 4-3 styles to 3-4 packages where an outside linebacker will rush the quarterback or stay in coverage. What causes the most disruption to the offense is when they blitz and make the quarterback make poor decisions. There is a short
Justin Tuck, New York Giants
There’s no doubt that Tuck will be the most sought after defensive end of the free agency period. He brings heart and intensity to the defensive front and is a force to reckon with. This past season with the Giants, he was able to record 63 tackles, two forced fumbles and 11 sacks. Any team would love to have a pass rush of this quality and will pay top dollar to get him.
Jared Allen, Minnesota Vikings
Even though he is getting up there in age, Allen still proves he is worthy to start in the NFL. He had an excellent stint with the Vikings for the past six seasons and it would be weird to see him in a new uniform. He had 11.5 sacks and 52 tackles last season and will put up similar numbers for the next couple years. His veteran knowledge could be valuable to young players on a new team.
Shaun Phillips, Denver Broncos
Phillips had an excellent season with the Broncos. He played for Von Miller when he was suspended and when he was injured late in the season. He plays a great linebacker/defensive end combo that would be great for any team that runs any defensive system. He was able to record 10 sacks for the Broncos and helped lead them to the Super Bowl.
Michael Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals
This six foot seven monster of a player can really make an impact on a defensive line. He had a down season this year with only 3.5 sacks and 56 tackles so he may not be signed to the deal he had before making him over 11 million dollars. In the right system, Johnson can make a big impact and swat some balls out of the air that are thrown in his direction.
Michael Bennett, Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks were lucky to get this guy. Bennett creates havoc on the outside and help lead the number one defense and the Seahawks to be Super Bowl Champions. It would be a shame for him to be a one year wonder in Seattle but we will see what happens. Bennett is coming off of a great season in having 8.5 sacks, 31 tackles and a forced fumble. Coming off of a Super Bowl victory, Bennett will be lined up to sign a contract with loads of money.
