NFL Free Agent Rumors 3/13/13

Alot of chips may have fallen into place during day one of NFL free agency on Tuesday, but there is a whole heck of a lot of talent to be had around the league as it preps for a second-day free agency frenzy.

Check out eDraft's updated free agency tracker and review of Tuesday's moves. Also, make sure to listen to Nick Slegel and myself on eDraft Sports Radio from 3-6 PM ET today.

Let's take a gander at some rumors making their way around the water cooler this early AM.

There are no indications that the Oakland Raiders plan on releasing Carson Palmer after they sent Darrius Heyward-Bey and Michael Huff, both top-10 picks under the previous regime, packing on Tuesday. Oakland now sits over $15 million under the cap, but possesses over $30 million in dead money. It is apparent that general manager Reggie McKenzie is dead set on changing the culture in Oakland, but it remains to be seen if that will include Palmer in the coming days.

Miami Dolphins' offensive tackle Jake Long has agreed to a deal with the St. Louis Rams; pending a physical. Considering Long's injury issues over the last couple seasons, the physical is much more than a formality. Long would come in to protect Sam Bradford's blindside opposite Rodger Saffold. If healthy, he would be an immediate upgrade for Jeff Fisher and company.

The Detroit Lions have reportedly told Reggie Bush that he would become their starting running back ahead of Mikel Leshoure should he sign a contract with them. This makes absolutely no sense considering that Bush is nothing more than a change-of-pace running back. Detroit also has visits scheduled with Glover Quin and Jason Jones. They'd like to agree to terms with all three.

Speaking of visits. The San Francisco 49ers have two lined up today. They are set to meet with both Charles Woodson and Glenn Dorsey. Both fit what San Francsico is attempting to do in free agency; cheaper veterans. For what it is worth, Woodson has indicated that he is interested in joining the 49ers. Other names to watch out for as it relates to San Francisco are: Sean Smith, Josh Cribbs and Ed Reed

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers flew their private jet to Northern California to pick up free-agent safety Dashon Goldson, who is looking to break the bank. At this point, Goldson does not have any other meeting lined up. I would venture a guess that he signs with Tampa Bay today.

With money still to "blow," the Miami Dolphins have expressed interest in free-agent cornerbacks Antoine Cason and Chris Houston. They're on the verge of losing Sean Smith in free agency, so looking at a deep defensive back market seems to make a lot of sense.

The Green Bay Packers are said to be the front runners for free-agent running back Steven Jackson, who they have been long linked to. In addition, Green Bay has show interest in Peyton Hillis. Either way, it seems that general manager Ted Thompson is looking to upgrade a relatively weak position. It must also be mentioned that the Atlanta Falcons are in the mix for Jackson.

Talks have broken down between the New England Patriots and Wes Welker. This is interesting news considering that many expected New England to come to terms with its stud wide receiver before he tested the market. The Denver Broncos are said to be the most recent team interested in him.

The Arizona Cardinals have set a few under-the-radar meetings today. They're going to sit down with Drew Stanton and Rashard Mendenhall. While both cannot be considered starter caliber, they're upgrades over what Arizona currently has on the roster.

It looks like the Tennessee Titans have put Nate Washington on the trade block. Washington has been darn productive, but could be expendable if Tennessee signs Danny Amendola, who it has been linked to. Speaking of Amendola, he has also been linked to the Baltimore Ravens. This makes sense after general manager Ozzie Newsome sent Anquan Boldin to the San Francisco 49ers for a sixth-round pick on Monday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have also been linked to Darrelle Revis, who is firmly on the trade block. While reports leaked yesterday that Revis was on the verge of going to Tampa Bay, they proved to be premature. San Francisco, Philadelphia and Atlanta are also said to be interested. Something should happen relatively soon.

More news to follow as the day gets started on the east coast.
