NFL Week 10: Previewing the AFC West

This week, the AFC West teams will have a few interesting match-ups after a crazy Week 9.  The undefeated Kansas City Chiefs have the bye week, as they prepare to face the always tough Denver Broncos in Week 11.  But, here’s a look at this week’s AFC West matchups.

To say Week 9 was a disappointing one for the Oakland Raiders would be an understatement.  They were favored to beat the Philadelphia Eagles, but instead lost 49-20 as Nick Foles threw a record-breaking seven touchdowns.  The Raiders are now 3-5 and will look to make a quick recovery as they face the Giants in New York.  The Raiders aren’t favored this week, no surprise there, but this game is winnable for the silver and black.  After such a tough loss they need to show they can recover from such losses and get a win on the road.  Eli Manning has been having a tough season with quite a few picks, so the Raiders defense needs to take advantage and get some turnovers.  They played poorly last week after gaining some hype, they need to return to their dominant ways and get the offense the ball.  It won’t be easy, and it isn’t likely, but a win for the Raiders in New York isn’t out of the question.

The 7-1 Denver Broncos will head to San Diego to take on the 4-4 San Diego Chargers.  It’s been an emotional week for the Broncos as their head coach, John Fox, had heart surgery and will be replaced by Jack Del Rio.  Del Rio has head coaching experience and the Broncos are a good team overall, so they shouldn’t be too affected by the change.  Denver had the bye last week, which came at the perfect time for Peyton Manning to rest his ankle.  The Chargers are coming off a loss against the Redskins in which they lost in overtime.  The Broncos have been unstoppable this season, and have dominated their opponent.  The Chargers are an improved team, but they aren’t good enough to beat Manning and the Broncos.  Look for the Broncos to take this one and improve to 8-1 heading into Week 11.
