New England Patriots 49, New York Jets 19
Thursday night's Thanksgiving battle of division foes turned out to be a lopsided destruction of the New York Jets at the hands of Tom Brady. The game turned ugly quickly and all but eliminated the Jets from any playoff hopes. The Jets season of turmoil continues as fans chanted for backup quarterback Tim Tebow. No one can blame them, as the Jets are the laughing stock of the AFC East and Thursday’s embarrassing performance by quarterback Mark Sanchez only fueled the fire.
The game was over by the second quarter when New England scored three touchdowns in the span of 52 seconds. The Jets could not manage to get out of their own way. By halftime New England had the game out of reach leading the Jets 35-3. New England added 14 points in the forth quarter to seal the victory. The Jets were no match for the Patriots as New England looks to capture the division title once again.
Buffalo Bills 13, Indianapolis Colts 20
The Indianapolis Colts continued their inspirational season as they out lasted the Buffalo Bills 20-13. The Colts were led by rookie wide receiver T.Y. Hilton who caught a touchdown pass and returned a punt for the other. The Bills chances at making the post season took a big hit Sunday. The loss puts them at 4-7 and tied for last place in the division.
The Bills never had a lead in this contest. The Colts struck first half way through the first quarter with Hilton’s punt return touchdown and they never looked back from there. The Bills could not manage much offense as the Colts defense kept quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in check for most of the game. The Bills managed to get in the end zone late in the fourth quarter but it would prove to be too late. The Colts continue their ride to the post season, while Buffalo’s chances are fading quickly.
Seattle Seahawks 21, Miami Dolphins 24
The Miami Dolphins kept playoff alive for one more week with a victory against the Seattle Seahawks. The Dolphins were led by rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill who marched down the field in the games final seconds, setting up a game winning field goal by kicker Dan Carpenter. Miami desperately needed this victory. They snapped a three game losing skid and are in second place in the AFC East only behind the first place New England Patriots. The Dolphins face the Patriots next week in an AFC East showdown.
The Dolphins got back to running the football. This is what they did well early in the season. Miami ran the ball for 189 yards on a very good Seattle defense. The two teams battle back and forth for most of the game. Fellow rookie quarterback Russell Wilson played well for Seattle. Wilson finished the game with a quarterback rating of 125.9 but in the end Tannehill prevailed leading the Dolphins to a victory. In the third quarter the game was halted because of the stadiums sprinkler system turning on. This did not seam to matter as Tannehill broke Dan Marino’s Dolphins rookie passing record of 2,210 yards.
