NFL Week 2 Preview : Chiefs at Broncos

Date : 9/14/14

Time : 4:30PM ET

Channel : CBS

Spread : Denver Broncos (-13)

Players To Watch

Demaryius Thomas, Wide Receiver, Denver Broncos

In Week 1, Thomas was outshined by the other Thomas on the field, Julius. Getting targeted 11 times but only ending up with four catches, Thomas struggled with drops versus the Colts going against the solid Vontae Davis. This week, Thomas has a rather easy task going against Sean Smith. Smith has had his up and downs over his tenure with the Chiefs mostly relying on his size and ball skills on deep passes. The essential reason that Demaryius is primed for a considerable increase in his stats is Kansas City's dreadful tackling which will lead to Thomas' main assest , YAC (Yards After Catch).

Justin Houston, Linebacker, Kansas City Chiefs

As an elite pass rusher, Houston will have a big role attempting to create pressure against a high octane offense lead by 2013-14 MVP Peyton Manning. Teamed up with two other Pro-Bowl caliber players in Tamba Hali and Dontari Poe, the whole defensive line will have a immense amount of pressure to force pressure due to the lack of talent not named Eric Berry behind them.

Kansas City Chiefs Offensive Line

Likely the biggest weakness of a serious amount of them , this unit will have its playe full with a stout front seven showcased by Pro Bowler Von Miller. ormer number one overall pick Eric Fisher often looked like a lost cub at right tackle last season , now back at his natural postion , Fisher is likely the Chiefs best offensive linemen. Which he showed for most of the game versus the Titans in Week One.

Alex Smith, Quarterback, Kansas City Chiefs

Smith has got his extension to lead his team to the playoffs again , but that won't happen. Smith is arguably the most overrated Quarterback in the NFL. Smith threw three interceptions against the Titans last week, two of which were deep balls. Another target for Donnie Avery that got underthrown and intercepted by Jason McCourty. With one of the best corners in the league in Chris Harris and the previously mentioned accomplished defensive line, expect a decent amount of forced throws from Smith that will likely end in turnovers.

Implications

The scoring machine known as the Denver Broncos are going against a relatively weak defense. With Derrick Johnson going down for the year with a torn achilles, the already loomy linebacker corps will have to face the mighy athletic Julius Thomas across the middle. There is not one matchup that Kansas City has an advantage on the field, this game should be a blowout via air attack from Peyton Manning.

Final Prediciton

Denver Broncos 41 - Kansas City Chiefs 16
