The 2-1 Denver Broncos will host the undefeated Arizona Cardinals Sunday afternoon with both teams coming off a bye week. For the Cardinals, there is concern about Carson Palmer’s shoulder injury after having a setback in his recovery; so Drew Stanton will get the start again this week. Stanton has started the last two games for Arizona and has done just fine with the Cards offense although he’s only converted 51.6 percent of his passes.
Denver suffered a tough overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3 and will look to rebound after a week off. The Cardinals are a very good football team on both sides of the ball, which will make for another exciting Broncos matchup. Peyton Manning is also one touchdown pass away from 500 in his career, and he will look to surpass that this weekend.
This will be an entertaining matchup with a lot on the line as the Broncos look to keep pace with the first place Chargers in the AFC West, and the Cardinals vying to stay undefeated and keep their first place title in the NFC West.
Players to Watch
Peyton Manning, Quarterback, Broncos
The past two seasons it seems like all Manning does is put his name in the record book, and this week he has an opportunity to do just that by becoming the second quarterback to reach 500 touchdown passes.
Aqib Talib, Cornerback, Broncos
Denver brought in guys like Talib to improve their defense that let them down last season. The corner will be busy covering some pretty good Cardinals receivers, and with Stanton under center, the Broncos secondary could have a huge impact on this game.
Larry Fitzgerald, Wide Receiver, Cardinals
Fitzgerald is one of the best wideouts in the league and is always a fun player to watch. Going up against a tough Denver defense will make for an interesting matchup.
Drew Stanton, Quarterback, Cardinals
So far Stanton has faced, and beaten, the 49ers and New York Giants. He had an impressive win at Levi Stadium against the Niners, and this will be another big game for him this season. He’ll be in a tough Denver environment against a defense with high expectations.
