NFL Week 5: Previewing the AFC West

The AFC West is quickly becoming an intriguing division led by two undefeated teams in the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs as they stand 4-0 on the season.  Heading into Week 5, there’s a few matchups in the AFC West that will be interesting to watch.

The 4-0 Broncos will travel to Dallas to take on the 2-2 Cowboys.  Quarterback Peyton Manning continues to prove that he just can’t be human as he seeks to continue breaking NFL records.  It’s only Week 5 and the quarterback already has 16 touchdowns on the year to go along with his 138 quarterback rating and 1,470 yards.  Last week Denver destroyed the Philadelphia Eagles, 52-20, and they look to continue their success this week.  The Cowboys have played well, but they’re no match for this Broncos team.  Manning will continue his record-breaking season, as the Denver offense will cruise past the Cowboys defense, and lead them to another victory giving them a 5-0 start to the season.  At this point there aren’t many teams that can stop the Broncos.

The 4-0 Kansas City Chiefs will travel to Tennessee to take on the 3-1 Titans.  Last week, Alex Smith and the Chiefs beat the New York Giants 31-7 in KC.  The Titans are another improved team, and may just be the best team the Chiefs have played thus far this season.  The Chiefs have shown they have a strong defense and a good offense, but do they have what it takes to improve to 5-0?  The Titans will look to end the undefeated season for Kansas City and have a good chance to do so.  The Chiefs will be on the road facing a good team in what will be a good game and a close matchup that could go either way.

It’ll be a late night for the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders fans as these two teams will go head to head for some prime time, Sunday Night Football.  The 1-3 Raiders will host the 2-2 Chargers in what will be a good matchup between division rivals.  AFC West rivalry games are always a joy to watch, and this game will have quite a few factors.  For the Raiders, the key to a good game is quarterback Terrelle Pryor who has been named the starter after missing last week due to a concussion.  Matt Flynn got the start last week against the Washington Redskins to replace Pryor and didn’t play well to say the least.  It’s clear, Pryor gives the Raiders the best chance to win and they really need him out there.

Chargers quarterback, Philip Rivers is coming off a good game against the Cowboys in which he threw for 401 yards and three touchdowns.  The Chargers have had some struggles finishing games this year, but overall are 2-2 on the year and they will look to improve to 3-2.  This will be a hard fought game by both teams, and both have a chance to win, but with Pryor starting for Oakland, with Raider Nation behind him, the Raiders could definitely take this one.
