The AFC West continues to be one of the best divisions in the NFL with all four teams in the hunt for the playoffs. As Week 9 approaches, these teams will look to improve their records and make a push for something special.
The Kansas City Chiefs remain undefeated as they are currently 8-0 after beating the Cleveland Browns last week. This week they will travel to Buffalo to take on the 3-5 Bills. This Chiefs team has been unstoppable all season, and will look to be 9-0 after Sunday’s matchup. The Bills have had a few good games this year, but are in fourth place in their division. The Chiefs have outplayed some of the better teams in the league, and the Bills shouldn’t be a problem for them. The KC defense has really kept the Chiefs in games throughout the season and has been one of their strengths thus far. Unless the Bills can pull out a surprising upset, expect the Chiefs to be 9-0 by week’s end.
The 4-3 San Diego Chargers are coming off their bye week as they travel to Washington to face the 2-5 Redskins. Philip Rivers has been having quite a season so far and has really impressed this year. Through seven games the Chargers have shown improvement from last year and will look to build on that as the season progresses. The Redskins, on the other hand, have been disappointing this season, and the Chargers should have no problem going into Washington and leaving with a W.
The Oakland Raiders are coming off a win against the Pittsburgh Steelers as they are now 3-4 on the year. They hadn’t won a game after the bye week since 2002, but their 21-18 win over the Steelers ended that losing streak. This week, the Raiders will host the 3-5 Philadelphia Eagles. It appears that Matt Barkley will get the start for the Eagles which will be an interesting matchup. Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor has impressed and improved from game to game. The silver and black’s defense has also proven to be much improved as they are highly ranked through the first eight weeks. The Raiders are more than capable of winning this game, and if they are able to, it would be a great boost of confidence for this team to head into Week 10 with a .500 record.
The Denver Broncos have the bye this week, which is a perfect time for this team to have a week off considering Peyton Manning suffered two ankle sprains. The time off will allow their star quarterback to get some rest and heal up, so he doesn’t aggravate it on the field.
