It shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, but the San Francisco 49ers have named Colin Kaepernick their starting quarterback for Week 7 after he started his first game of the season on Sunday.
The much-maligned signal caller had an up-and-down game, completing 13-of-29 passes for 187 yards with a touchdown and zero picks. He also added 66 rushing yards on eight attempts in San Francisco's 45-16 loss to Buffalo.
Kaepernick has himself a nice little matchup against a bad Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense. Overall, the Buccaneers have allowed 11 touchdowns compared to three interceptions in five games this season. They are also yielding a substandard 99.5 quarterback rating.
The embattled signal caller could become a decent bye week or injury replacement against Tampa Bay. Ben Roethlisberger is out of action for Pittsburgh, while Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers are on a bye.
Though, there are much better options on the waiver wire at this point, Brian Hoyer, Marcus Mariota and even Case Keenum included.
Where Kaepernick could strike gold is in the DFS world. He promises to be one of the cheapeast quarterback options out there, enabling you to go elite at other positions. While this would likely involve you going away from a potential stack, playing the matchup here wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.
