Many expected the battle between New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham and Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman to be physical, but no one could have seen just how physical and ugly it was going to get. The two exchanged blows for most of the game before emotions ramped up and Beckham speared Norman with a blindside hit to the helmet.
A suspension was expected and the NFL has announced Beckham will be suspended one game for spearing Norman. The hit was malicious and deserving of a suspension, given that type of blindside helmet-to-helmet hits can seriously put the player's health in jeopardy.
As of now, Beckham Jr. is slated to miss Week 16's game against the Minnesota Vikings, though he has appealed the suspension on Wednesday. With the Giants-Vikings game taking place on Sunday Night Football and a history of the NFL taking their time making decisions on appeals, Beckham Jr. could play this week.
For fantasy purposes this is a major boost for teams in the championship as it represents a great matchup for OBJ. If he were to play in Sunday's game, he is a top-five fantasy receiver. If OBJ's suspension is upheld before Sunday's game, Rueben Randle figures to see an uptick in value.
