Peyton Manning Expected to Miss At Least the Next Two Games

After suffering a plantar fascia tear earlier in the year, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning missed last week's game against the Chicago Bears.

He was replaced in the lineup by former second-round pick Brock Osweiler, who proceeded to lead Denver to a win while putting up 250 yards and two scores without a touchdown.

This led to speculation that the Broncos might go with Osweiler for the remainder of the season. That was only magnified by the fact that head coach Gary Kubiak wouldn't commit to Manning, even if he showed up healthy after meeting with doctors earlier this week.

All this can now be thrown out the window.

Denver announced via Twitter on Tuesday evening that Manning will miss at least the next two weeks with said foot injury:

This means that the earliest Manning could return to the field would be Week 14 against the Oakland Raiders. Of course, that's all dependent on Manning actually being healthy and the Broncos deciding that he gives them the best chance to win.

Prior to missing last week's game, Manning was in the midst of his worst season in the NFL. He still leads the league with 17 interceptions and has thrown just nine touchdowns on the year.

If Osweiler proves his worth this Sunday against the New England Patriots and next week against a hapless San Diego Chargers team, Manning may have in fact played his last snap in a Broncos uniform.
