Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz suffered a groin injury in training camp last month. At that point, it was not known whether he would be able to go for the regular season opener next week. Three weeks removed from surgery, and his status remains up in the air.
Ertz, a third-year-player from Stanford, is coming off a solid 2014 campaign that saw him record 58 receptions for 702 yards and three touchdowns. The expectation prior to his groin injury was that Ertz would break out big time in his third season in Chip Kelly's system and with Sam Bradford under center.
You will definitely want to avoid relying on Ertz as a starter Week 1. Philadelphia takes on the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football, which means a decision to start him could leave you without any production from the tight end position.
In a sign that Ertz is highly regarded within the fantasy football community, his ADP still has him as the ninth tight end off the board.
