After missing two key field goals that could have won the game, Josh Scobee has been released by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh will now have their fourth kicker of the season, signing Chris Boswell.
Scobee was acquired in exchange for a sixth-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars, after Pittsburgh lost Shaun Suisham and Garrett Hartley to season-ending injuries. The Steelers were trapped in a bad situation and gave up a draft pick given how poor the free agent kicker market was.
Now just over a month later, Pittsburgh will move on to their next option. Scobee had already missed four of 10 attempts this season, leaving Pittsburgh with no other choice but to cut him.
Boswell went undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft and spent his first season in the NFL on the Houston Texans practice squad for most of the season, before the Texans called upon him for punting duties when Shane Lechler got hurt.
This offseason he was signed and released by the New York Giants twice and has been a free agent since Sept. 5. He is not on the fantasy radar.
