Previewing AFC West's Week 7 Action

This week will bring about an important divisional game in the AFC West, and with the first-place Denver Broncos on the bye, this is an opportunity to gain some ground and momentum as Denver’s offense is greatly struggling.

Here’s a look at how the AFC West will match up for Week 7.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs, Sunday 1:05pm EST

The Steelers had a big win last week against the Arizona Cardinals and are now 4-2 on the year.

KC, on the other hand, is now 1-5 in a season that has just not gone their way.  The offense was having its issues before the Jamaal Charles injury, but with him out for the season, the Chiefs have reached panic mode.

The Steelers have been operating without Ben Roethlisberger, but the quarterback has been marked as questionable for Sunday’s game, which could mean bad news for the Chiefs.

KC will also have their hands full with running back La'Veon Bell, who has picked up the slack on offense with Roethlisberger's absence.

The Chiefs have a good run defense, but it will be interesting to see how they handle Bell, who has been on a roll as of late.

KC also has to apply the pass rush, and with the possible return of Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown could see more targets than he has with Michael Vick at QB.

KC’s season is quickly spiraling out of control, and this is a tough matchup for them.

Final Score Prediction

Steelers 24 Chiefs 13

Oakland Raiders at San Diego Chargers, Sunday 4:05pm EST

This is a very important matchup for both teams. The Raiders enter Week 7 fresh off the bye with a 2-3 record, while the Chargers are coming off a tough loss to the Green Bay Packers in a game they were capable of winning. San Diego stands at 2-4 on the season.

With the Broncos at 6-0, these are the two teams in the West capable of contending with them for the division, but they are quite a few games back.

The Raiders offense will look to shine against this Chargers defense. Derek Carr and company will have to work on all cylinders to beat this always tough San Diego team.

The biggest concern for the Raiders is easily the defense.

Philip Rivers passes the ball often, the Chargers have no run game, but the Raiders secondary is depleted and has had some serious issues this season. It could be a long day for the Raiders defense, but with the news that Antonio Gates has a MCL sprain, the Chargers offense isn’t as dynamic. Gates is one of Rivers favorite and most reliable targets, if he indeed doesn’t play, he’s listed as questionable, then someone else will have to step up for the bolts.

Oakland will also look to put the pressure on Rivers, led by Khalil Mack and Aldon Smith, and if they are able to pressure him and get a few sacks, Rivers then is off his game and rattled.

Oakland’s offense will be able to take time off the clock and march down field if they execute, which has been an issue throughout their first five games. They need Amari Cooper, Michael Crabtree and Latavius Murray to be nearly perfect and make plays against this Chargers defense.

This is a great rivalry and always makes for entertaining matchups. Both teams have been playing well, and far better than their records suggest.

This game in particular is important for both teams, and a must win. Both the Chargers and Raiders have a good roster and have been playing well, but the Raiders have an advantage when it comes to their best producers being healthy.

Either way this is bound to be a hard fought game, with a close score come fourth quarter.

Final Score Prediction

Raiders 27 Chargers 23
