Two quarterbacks put up more than 30 fantasy points (FanDuel) on Sunday. Matt Ryan Tallied 36.5 points after recording 500-plus yards and four scores against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger also tallied 30-plus points with a five touchdown outing against the Kansas City Chiefs.
To put this into perspective, the first three weeks saw a total of two quarterbacks his the 30-point plateau.
For his part, Ryan is on pace to have an absolutely ridiculous statistical season a quarter of the way through the 16-game schedule. Actually, a bunch of quarterbacks are.
All said, seven quarterbacks are currently on pace to put up 4,500-plus passing yards. For comparison's sake, only one quarterback hit that mark a decade ago. Going back further, from 1988-2001, only four quarterbacks hit that plateau.
Yes, we're definitely in the midst of a golden age for quarterback statistics.
If that rings true, then wide receiver surely have to be up there too, right?
Well, coming off a 300-yard performance on Sunday, Julio Jones is the toast of the NFL. And for good reason. It represented the sixth-most receiving yards in a single-game in NFL history.
Interestingly enough, and primarily due to the calf injury he had been suffering through, Jones is barely the leader in the clubhouse at the quarter point of the season. Jones (488), Marvin Jones Jr. (482) and A.J. Green (468) have all crossed the 450-yard plateau. This means that each of them is on pace for over 1,900 receiving yards. The single-season NFL record is 1,964 set by Calvin Johnson back in 2012.
By virtue of his three-touchdown performance against the Baltimore Ravens, Michael Crabtree is now the fifth-best fantasy receiver heading into Monday Night Football. He currently leads the NFL with four touchdown catches and is on pace for over 100 receptions.
The primary reason for this outside of his own performance is what Derek Carr continues to do under center in Oakland. Just look at his stats through 36 career starts. They simply are mind-boggling.
| Comp % | Yards | TD | INT |
| 60.5 | 8,323 | 62 | 26 |
That's pretty darn good for a second-round pick that some NFL Draft observers figured would bomb out in the NFL. Heck, look at him compared to reigning NFL MVP Cam Newton during his first 36 career NFL starts.
| Comp % | Yards | TD | INT |
| 58.7 | 8,605 | 63 | 29 |
That's also taking into account 23 rushing touchdowns from Newton compared to zero for Carr. As it is, you can tell that the latter is definitely on an upwards trajectory here.
From a fantasy perspective, Carr's 2016 performance is much better than what we saw last season. He finished the 2015 campaign as the 15th-best fantasy quarterback. Heading into Monday's game, Carr is in the top five this year.
