Random Fantasy Football Musings Heading Into Week 12

Seattle Seahawks running back Thomas Rawls embarrassed the San Francisco 49ers to the tune of 259 total yards and two touchdowns on Sunday. While Seattle's blocking was up to snuff in this one, it was Rawls' play-making ability that had him making the 49ers look like a high school squad out there.

Including Sunday's performance, Rawls has put up 575 yards in the four games that he's been Seattle's primary ball carrier this season. With Marshawn Lynch likely out for a substantial amount of time, this rookie free agent becomes a must play in every format. Leave it to the hapless 49ers to make this a reality.

Cam Newton and Jameis Winston combined for 10 touchdown passes and zero picks on Sunday, pretty much laughing in the face of the old guard in the media that has continued to question these two players, both on and off the field.

Newton is now the second-ranked fantasy quarterback on the season while Winston finds himself in the top 10 for the first time all year.

Three current or former San Francisco 49ers tight ends finished this past week as TE1 options. Continuing his stellar season, Tennessee Titans pass catcher Delanie Walker caught eight of the 10 passes thrown in his direction for 109 yards. Meanwhile, current 49ers tight end Vance McDonald, this close to becoming a bust, caught all four passes thrown in his direction for 65 yards and a score.

Recently acquired Denver Broncos tight end Vernon Davis made his first real impact with his new team. Catching passes from Brock Osweiler, Davis hauled in all six of he passes thrown in his direction for 68 yards.

This doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot. It's still rather interesting.

As it relates to Walker, he's now the fifth-best fantasy tight end through Week 11.

Monday's matchup between the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots was billed as a potential high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, that never materialized, as fantasy points were not readily available in this one.

Tom Brady finished with 277 passing yards and one score. He also threw his third interception of the season en route to a No. 19 finish among fantasy quarterbacks on the week.

Meanwhile, Tyrod Taylor added 233 yards without a touchdown or an interception. That was good enough for him to finish with the 24th-most fantasy points.

Heck, Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins went for three receptions and 39 yards while LeGarrette Blount added just 56 yards on 16 attempts.

In the "who would have ever thought" category, Kansas City Chiefs running back Spencer Ware finished Week 11 as the third-best fantasy running back. He went for 96 yards and two scores on 11 touches after Charcandrick West went down with an injury.

DeAndre Hopkins and Julio Jones both finished among the top-five fantasy receivers this past week. That's not much of a surprise.

What is a surprise is the fact that J.J. Nelson, James Jones and Tyler Lockett finished in the top five as well.

Yeah, about that whole blindly throwing darts at a dartboard thing.
