Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan heads into Week 5 averaging six-plus more fantasy points per game than any other quarterback. That's an equivalent of a touchdown and 100 more passing yards than any other signal caller in the NFL.
Ryan is now taking on a Denver Broncos defense that has yielded two touchdowns and five interceptions on the season. Talk about a matchup of elite performers here.
Jameis Winston of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been boom or bust all season. He's averaging 275 passing yards per game and has thrown eight touchdowns compared to eight interceptions. He's a solid play this week against a Panthers defense that yielded 500-plus passing yards to the aforementioned Ryan last week. Though, we can expect Winston to continue turning it over at a less-than-acceptable rate.
Of the top-10 fantasy running backs at this point in the season, only David Johnson and Ezekiel Elliott boasted ADPs in the first round during preseason drafts. Of that group, DeAngelo Williams and Tevin Coleman are not even starting for their respective teams.
Julio Jones, Antonio Brown and A.J. Green entered Week 5 as the three-top fantasy receivers. This shouldn't be considered a surprise when looking at the fact that they were among the top-four receivers in terms of preseason ADP.
The fourth? Odell Beckham Jr of the New York Giants entered Week 5 as the 32nd-best fantasy receiver. So yeah, if you selected OBJ over those three, you're probably not doing too well during the early part of the season.
Speaking of not doing well, injuries have hampered two of the league's best fantasy tight ends. Combined, Rob Gronkowski and Delanie Walker have tallied 30 fantasy points. That's just horrible, and it magnifies how injuries have impacted the early-season fantasy slate.
