Report: Alshon Jeffery Suffers Setback with Hamstring

The Chicago Bears opted to play Alshon Jeffery last week despite him nursing a calf injury and hamstring tightness. It worked out pretty well, Jeffery caught five passes for 78 yards and did not suffer any setbacks during the game. But just a few days later, Jeffery was unable to practice on Friday

ESPN's Bears' reporter Jeff Dickerson added that it appears Jeffery has suffered a setback to the hamstring. Jeffery missed practice Friday after what head coach John Fox called "hamstring tightness". He is listed as "questionable" for Sunday's game versus the Arizona Cardinals.

Even if Jeffery is able to fight through the leg problems, he would face a tough matchup against Cardinals' cornerback Patrick Peterson. It could turn into a physical battle and putting Jeffery out there with a bad leg not only risks further problems in the future, but he would be even more ineffective against a top corner. For fantasy owners, even if the Bears put Jeffery out there, it's best to keep him out of your lineups this week.

The Cardinals are favored in this game and in a season where the Bears are not considered playoff contenders, it might be wise for Chicago to keep their star receiver out for this one. If he doesn't suit up, the offense will rely more heavily on Matt Forte and trying to beat the Cardinals using a lot of screen passes, which they struggled with last week against Mark Ingram and the New Orleans Saints.
