Now that Houston Texans running back Arian Foster passed his physical, the team won't be able to place him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. That clears some things up relating to Foster heading into the season.
Though, ESPN's Adam Schefter sent out a tweet on Labor Day suggesting that we should be cautious as it relates to any early-season projections for the star running back:
Foster underwent surgery after suffering a groin injury during the team's training camp. At that point, many suggested that the running back would be placed on short-term injured reserve. Showing that he still possesses the ability to quickly rehab from serious injuries, the veteran appears to be prepared to hit the ground running at some point in the first half of the season. Though, it's not yet known when he will return.
With an ADP in the fifth round, Foster remains a risky proposition unless you have found a way to pick up two running backs and have a solid plan for a FLEX option for the first six weeks of the season. The best bet here is to assume Foster won't be making a fantasy impact until Week 7. If that's the case, and after you have added two starting running backs, he becomes a value play.
