The Pittsburgh Steelers may have advanced to the divisional round of the playoffs following a late-game win over the Cincinnati Bengals, but they suffered a potentially serious injury in the process.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered a shoulder injury in the fourth quarter of the wild card game after Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict drove him into the ground following a sack.
Initial reports are that Big Ben suffered a sprained AC joint in the shoulder. He is going through an MRI on Sunday.
While Big Ben did indicate he was day-to-day after suffering the injury, it really does depend on the severity. The injury is to his throwing shoulder. And when the quarterback returned to action late in the fourth quarter, Pittsburgh couldn't call plays that included him throwing the ball down the field.
We are sure to hear a ton about the injury as the week progresses, and likely won't have a final determination for a few days here.
Pittsburgh travels to Denver to take on the Broncos in the AFC divisional playoffs next weekend. If Big Ben can't go, Landry Jones will get the start.
