After losing his 11th consecutive game as a starter in the NFL, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Brandon Weeden has reportedly been informed that he will be benched moving forward.
Dallas has lost each of Weeden's three starts since he replaced an injured Tony Romo under center in Week 3. In a 30-6 loss to the New England Patriots this past week, the former Cleveland Browns first-round pick completed 26-of-39 passes for 188 yards with zero touchdowns and an interception.
After putting up 28 points in Weeden's first start of the season against Atlanta in Week 3, the Cowboys offense has struggled big time in the past two games. In fact, Sunday's game saw Dallas put up its fewest points (six) in a game since the 2009 playoffs against the Minnesota Vikings.
With Weeden now benched, the Cowboys will have to turn to the recently acquired Matt Cassel following their Week 6 bye. At 2-3 on the year and with Romo still not slated to return until Week 11, Cassel needs to find a way to keep this team above water in order to save the season.
