In the least surprising news of the day, ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles did in fact tear his ACL against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
The ugly-looking injury will cost Charles the remainder of the 2015 season. Depending on how his rehabilitation goes, the Pro Bowl running back should be ready to go in time for training camp next summer. It's the second ACL tear Charles has suffered in his career. He missed all but two games back in 2011 with the same injury.
Prior to the injury, Charles was on pace to put up over 1,900 total yards and 18 touchdowns. Those numbers would have represented the third time in his career that Charles had put up 19,000-plus total yards.
With Charles lost for the season, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is said to prefer Charcandrick West over Knile Davis as the starter for the final 11 games of the season. West, a second-year player from Abilene Christian, is averaging four yards on just 12 attempts this season.
