Bristol, Connecticut was sad when Adam Schefter announced the Philadelphia Eagles are going to release Tim Tebow. After trading Matt Barkley just a day ago, it seemed as if Tebow's spot on the roster was fairly safe. Now he will be released and sit with an uncertain future.
Tebow was signed by the Eagles back in April to a one-year deal, giving him the opportunity to prove his mechanics and delivery were improved, maybe allowing him to be the Eagles' third quarterback and a weapon on two-point conversions. Tebow played limited snaps in Philadelphia's second and third preseason game, completing four of seven passes for 28 yards and six carries for 35 rushing yards.
In the final preseason game, Tebow completed 11 of 17 pass attempts for 189 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Chip Kelly was supposed to be the mastermind who used Kelly properly and would let him thrive, or at least that's what those who still believe in Tebow could tell you.
Now what was likely his last opportunity is gone. If this is indeed the end of his NFL career, a return to the SEC Network as an analyst would be a great move for him.
