Many fantasy football enthusiasts built an immediate hype train for fourth-round pick Samaje Perone. But reporters out of training camp continue to derail the possibility of Perone serving in a prominent role as a rookie. On Friday, the news continued with CSN Mid-Atlantic's Rich Tandler saying he doesn't believe Perone will push Kelley's job any time soon.
it certainly doesn't come as a surprise given all the news and reports out of camp, but it does serve as another blow for a player who was a consensus top-10 pick in rookie drafts. The collection of negative reports has also demonstrated a strong, downward impact on Perine's overall ADP in the past month.
According to the Fantasy Football Calculator, Perine's ADP is already down a full round since late July and it will fall even further given the latest reports. We could very well see him fall into the double-digit rounds in standard leagues in the weeks ahead. He should be avoided in non-keeper leagues for now, but now is a strong time to buy low on the rookie running back in deep dynasty leagues.
As for Kelley, Washington will remain a pass-heavy offense this season that needs to put up a lot of points to match a weak defense. So while he could be a nice pick in the eighth round, his ADP will likely soar into the early seventh round, where better options are available.
