Report: San Diego Chargers Expected to fire Mike McCoy

It's the final week of the regular season and while some teams are busy making preparations for the playoffs and getting excited for an opportunity to contend for a Super Bowl trip, other teams around the league are making plans for coaching changes. Now it appears San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy will be the next coach to be terminated, per Alex Marvez.

McCoy is finishing up his third season as the Chargers' coach and after making it to the AFC Divisional round in 2013, San Diego fell short of the playoffs in 2014 and is now a game away from a 12-loss season. While the Chargers record is an indicator of the numerous injuries to starters, the team could be moving to Los Angeles and believes the time is now for a change at head coach.

San Diego will likely join the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts as teams with coaching vacancies. San Diego does have an established franchise quarterback in Philip Rivers, a young wide receiver in Keenan Allen and some pieces on defense, but the team still needs a lot of work and Rivers window is closing.
