Robert Griffin III, Now Redskins No. 3 Quarterback

It's about time the Washington Redskins let Robert Griffin III pursue other opportunities. The former No. 2 overall pick — long seen as an engimatic force within the organization — is now officially the Redskins third-string quarterback behind Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy

In addition to this slap in the face, RGIII served as the team's scout-team safety during practice this past week.

The entire RGIII drama is by now well known. After two injury-plagued and unsuccessful seasons, the Redskins maintained some sense of support for the former Heisman winner by naming him the team's starter heading into training camp. After throwing him out there behind a disastrous offensive line against the Detroit Lions, that designation was short lived. RGIII was used as a human punching bag for the Lions — a fact that resulted in the embattled quarterback suffering a concussion. Cleared to play last week, RGIII has now been removed from the active gameday roster as the Redskins' No. 3 quarterback.

This is what we would call going out of the way to throw a tremendous amount of disrespect RGIII's way. Considering owner Daniel Snyder is the only person in power within the organization that seems to be in the quarterback's corner, this entire drama is about to head in a downward spiral that no one within the team's decision-making hierachy, outside of Snyder, will be able to overcome.

It's time to move on from RGIII, and only the Redskins seem to be avoiding this eventuality.
