The Cleveland Browns are going to be without starting quarterback Robert Griffin III for at least the next eight weeks after the team placed him on injured reserve with a fractured bone in his non-throwing shoulder on Monday.
Griffin III took a hit to the shoulder during a late-game scramble in Cleveland's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. After the game, it was reported he would undergo an MRI. Unfortunately, the result of said MRI now indicated that he's going to be out 3-4 months.
With Griffin III now injured, the Browns will have to turn to backup Josh McCown, likely for the remainder of the season.
This has to be considered a major blow in the quarterback's career. He was just getting a new lease on life after suffering through many injury-plagued and drama-filled seasons with the Washington Redskins.
From a fantasy perspective, there's not a whole bunch to look at here. Griffin III wasn't a reliable fantasy option in standard 12-team leagues, which made him irrelevant in DFS contests. The same can pretty much be said for McCown. Though, Cleveland's receiving trio of Josh Gordon, Terrelle Pryor and rookie Corey Coleman may possess more upside with McCown under center than Griffin III.
